The liver is a large, muscular organ that be sited on the right side of the belly. Weighing about 3 pounds, the liver is reddish-brown in color and feels rubbery to touch.
The liver has two large sections, called the right and the left lobes. The gallbladder sits under the liver, along with parts of the pancreas and intestines. The liver and these organs work together to digest, absorb, and process food.
The liver is classed as a gland and associated with many functions. The major functions of the liver include:
- Bile production: Bile helps the small intestine break down and absorb fats, cholesterol, and some vitamins. Bile consists of bile salts, cholesterol, bilirubin, electrolytes, and water.
- Absorbing and metabolizing bilirubin: Bilirubin is formed by the breakdown of hemoglobin. The iron released from hemoglobin is stored in the liver or bone marrow and used to make the next generation of blood cells.
- Supporting Blood Clots: Vitamin K is necessary for the creation of certain coagulants that help clot the blood. Bile is essential for vitamin K absorption and is created in the liver. If the liver does not produce enough bile, clotting factors cannot be produced.
- Fat metabolization: Bile breaks down fats and makes them easier to digest.
- Immunological function: The liver is part of the mononuclear phagocyte system. It contains high numbers of Kupffer cells that are involved in immune activity. These cells destroy any disease-causing agents that might enter the liver through the gut.
- Production of albumin: Albumin is the most common protein in blood serum. It transports fatty acids and steroid hormones to help maintain the correct pressure and prevent the leaking of blood vessels.
Liver Conditions
Types of liver disease include:
- Hepatitis: Inflammation of the liver, usually caused by viruses like hepatitis A, B, and C. Hepatitis can have non-infectious causes too, including heavy drinking, drugs, allergic reactions, or obesity.
- Constipation: Is a condition of the digestive system where an individual has hard faeces that are difficult to expel.
- Flatulence: Is defined in medical terms as “flatus expelled through the anus” or the “quality or state of being flatulent
- Intestinal Colic: Is a cramp-like pain that originates in the small or large intestine. It’s caused by a blockage that keeps food and liquid from passing through the body.
Indications:
Human health depends upon liver health. Adulteration in foods and atmospheric pollution had has worse effects on our life causing liver malfunctions resulting diseases such as anemia, digestive problems, constipation, dyspepsia, anorexia. Masood’s HR 27 is hard hitting in all these problems.
Pharmacology:
HR 27 contains, Lycopodium Clav, Myrica Cerif, Nux Vomica, and Plumbum Acet, these all have antioxidants, analgesic, anti-inflammatory and detoxifying effects. HR 27 has potent hepatoprotective property, when there are elevated activities of acid and alkaline phosphatases and decreased levels of blood glucose and cortisol, the decreased activities of glutathione reductase, succinate dehydrogenase, blood cholesterol and hemoglobin contents, levels of serum estradiol and testosterone. HR 27 helps in regulation of these biomarkers in both liver and spleen tissues and positively alters along with a significant reduction of tumor incidence in liver of carcinogen intoxification. HR 27 has potent analgesic activity is likely due to myricetin’s inhibition of cytochrome C oxidase (COX-1). HR 27 contains Nux Vomica in which useful ingredient brucine has anti metastatic activity against hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Brucine dramatically represses HepG2 and SMMC-7721 HCC cell migration with few cytotoxic effects. Hypoxia inducible factor 1 (HIF-1) is a key transcription factor mediating cell migration and invasion. Brucine suppressed HIF-1-dependent luciferase activity in HepG2 cells. The transcriptions of four known HIF-1 target genes involved in HCC metastasis.
